Musky in the French Broad

Jon's 20in. tiger Musky on the French Broad 10/27/2012

He pulled this fish out of our best hole fishing upstream with a green bass jig, bumpin it over rocks back toward him. He caught a one pound bass right before this fish taged his lure on the next cast. Only two fish caught in that boat. (Mike did miss a nice fish that pulled drag)

toothy critter!

Mid Sept. French Float....

I love In-line spinners!!!Meps #4 gold blade.

Caught a few on the green jigs
Today we caught less fish from the trip before but, the fish on average were alittle larger. I picked up the first fish from the bank before the boat hit the water, i was fixing my line and hooked a one pound er. Within the first mile we caught the big fish for the day tad under 3lb. I'd say. It  took an meps in-line #4 gold blade spinner about 6 1/2 feet from the boat. I live for the short strikes near the boat by big fish, it was really similar to a fish i caught on the same bait up-north. I think we might have caught around a dozen small mouth bass and one baby muskie. River being alitter higher i think made for as tougher bite and seemed that only the bigger fish were feeding tight to cover.  Great fall views of Biltmore!! cool river to paddle.

Tuck Delayed Harvest 10/7

Big Fish of the day +16" Brook Trout on the Tuck!!

Took a dark olive wooley bugger in the top of the run.
Got up this moring and decided to do a little float on the Tuck since it's the start to delayed harvest season in Cullowhee! I floated about 3 mile and met up with Swerve to the Curve!! We fished two runs together, with him catchin 4 nice trout. I ended a tough day on the fiver with 7 Trout. The best part for me was using my NEW Orivs Hellios Flyrod!! It was smooth like butter that handles this big brookie well..

10 hr. float on the French Broad River Sept. 15th 2012

Found this nice smallie in a rocky hole near the shore.  This bronzeback wacked a #4 mepps in-line spinner about 5ft from the boat.. We caught at least 6-7 fish around this size in the rocky spots.

Cory's first Chunky fish caught on a jig with kicker trailer legs.
Cory and I floated a new section of the French Broad from the airport down to Bent Creek. (we think around 5-6 miles section. ) It took us almost 10hr. putting in at 8am and pullin out around 6pm, fishing hard all day long. We didn't start picking up fish until a mile or so down when the river started to get rocky with ledges and runs with holes. We started picking them up with green/brown hair and reg. jigs with, pumpkin kicker trailers legs. The fish were feeding good and would pick up the jigs up quickly on the bounce and drop. WE both missed our biggest fish of the day (at least solid 4-5 pound fish) that jumped out of the drink and thru our jigs back at us. I was fight my biggest fish in 3-4 feet of water standing next to the boat. It's just good to know you can trick em and see em jump and go crazy. Al in all we ended the day with 30+ fish in the boat all smallies and one rockbass.
